Indigo Ocean has an interesting range of fair trade homeware made from natural materials, hand picked by us for the craftsmanship and the individual beauty each unique item has. Our selection of authentic bowls could be used on the table for either fruit, salad or bread. They are handmade from coconut wood which is a prolific and renewable source of wood in Indonesia. They are made by a community in the village of Mas in Bali who specialise in making an array of wooden fair trade homeware items. The bowls we have are carefully crafted and shaped highlighting and accentuating the natural beauty of the wood in an array of textured colours.
As well as these, we have salad servers also made from coconut wood to compliment the bowls and make a perfect set. These are made by the same community.
Indigo Ocean also include a variety of candles in its fair trade homeware section that have been handmade by a corporation in Kolkata, India using traditional candle making skills. We selected this specifc range because of the maginificent design. Notably, the scents used in the fair trade candles are from flowers, fruits and spices.
We have picture frames that have been made by recycling mussel shells cast aside by the fishermen from a village in Bali, Indonesia. If you prefer earthy tones, we also include in our fair trade homeware range batik picture frames covered in the golden brown tones. Interestingly Indonesia have their own unique designs using characteristics of the craftmens everyday lives, incorporating patterns such as flowers, nature, animals, folklore or people.
Indigo Ocean will be extending this range in the future to include soft furnishings such as cushions and throws, but in the meantime, please do take a peek at our current fair trade homeware selection.
