Indigo Ocean have a new range of fair trade SHOPPING BAGS made from
jute, a fast-growing vegetable fibre which is 100% biodegradable and
recyclable.
These bags are made by a community in Kolkata in India giving
employment to women and self-help groups. They are paid a fair wage in
exchange for the goods they produce. The fair trade jute shopping bags
are hand dyed and screen printed to give really gorgeous eco-friendly
alternative to the plastic shopping bag.
We also have a NEWSPAPER BAG made from 100% recycled materials of
newspaper and string. These are made by the street children of India
and the money they earn helps to buy them equipment for schooling and
education. Not only are these recycled bags eco-friendly, but they are
very strong and functional.
